Hike, News — By Outdoor Adventure Guide on May 13, 2014 at 10:32 am100 million. That’s how many visitors the European alps get each year. Every one of those visitors leaves their mark on the mountain. In some cases it might just be a footprint or a ski track, but all too often it’s something far worse: rubbish.
Enter Envirotrek. It’s a clean up event series that travels around mountains destinations across Europe combining hiking through the hills with a good ol’ fashioned bit of rubbish picking.
Each days kicks off at 10am with a 2.5 hour walk, rubbish bag in tow. Envirotrek provide all cleaning and safety equipment, as well as a bbq lunch afterwards.
Prizes will be awarded to the best pickers (including Keen footwear for the most interesting rubbish on the mountain) and the rest of the afternoon will be spent trying out a range of outdoor pursuits.
The Series kicks off in Germany later this month, before hitting sites in Austria, Czech Republic and France. Us non Alpine-dwellers are included to, with events in both North Wales (17 August) and the Lake District (24 August).
The entrance fee is €10, payable online, or free with a recent purchase of KEEN shoes (bring your receipt along on the day).
